Memorial Descritivo:
Sustentabilidade, inovação social e interculturalidade estruturam o projeto do Centro Educacional TOB, implantado na costa de Gana. A proposta nasce da integração entre os diferentes programas — salas de aula, refeitório, cozinha experimental, horta, dormitórios, áreas de descanso e administração — articulados em torno de um pátio central aberto, onde o espaço promove encontros, permanência e troca.
O projeto assume a permeabilidade como gesto arquitetônico e político: os acessos são livres, os espaços fluidos e o olhar encontra continuidade entre natureza, comunidade e construção. Materiais locais, soluções construtivas acessíveis e modulação racional garantem viabilidade e replicabilidade, enquanto a espacialidade convida à apropriação e ao pertencimento.
Mais do que um centro educacional, o TOB é uma plataforma de conexão humana — entre saberes, culturas e futuros possíveis.

Project Disription:
Sustainability, social innovation, and intercultural exchange form the foundation of the TOB Educational Center, located on the coast of Ghana.
The project is shaped by the integration of diverse programs — classrooms, a community dining hall, experimental kitchen, vegetable garden, volunteer housing, leisure areas, and administrative spaces — all organized around a central open courtyard that fosters interaction, permanence, and exchange. Permeability is both an architectural and social principle: access is open, spatial transitions are fluid, and the gaze flows freely between nature, community, and built form. Local materials, modular construction, and accessible building methods ensure feasibility and replicability, while the spatial design invites appropriation and a sense of belonging.
More than an educational facility, TOB is a platform for human connection — between knowledge, cultures, and shared futures.

"Sustainability, interculturality, communication and permeability of the sight. These are some of the main concepts and ideas that shape our TOB Educational Center project. From the stipulated programs, we see in the integration between them a potential to promote an educational environment, which stimulates the connection between students, volunteers and a sustainable environment.
With this, the two established entrances, both wide and overlooking the interior of the project, bring the idea of freedom instituted throughout the project. Without roof and through a preserved tree, as a symbol of preservation and importance of nature in human life, the first entrance of the project inserts the user into our center, with the classroom on the right, the cafeteria on the left and the experimental kitchen facing the beautiful sea of Ghana. The same happens with the second entrance, covered and inserted in the main complex, it introduces you to the classroom modules and living area, in addition to the large central space for conviviality and connection of the entire project."
As part of the design strategy, we understand modularity and longevity as pillars of our center. Having 4 main modules: first the existing classroom, with bathrooms and office; the second containing a large outdoor kitchen, with space for learning and connected to the vegetable garden; the third and only one with an upper floor, has on its ground floor a large dining room, next to the kitchen, in addition to the living area opened by sliding doors that lead to the central patio. On the top floor, we have 8 bedrooms with single bathrooms, in addition to the wide corridor as a space for socializing and contemplation of both the center and the landscape made up of the North Atlantic Ocean. Connected through the roof, the fourth module has an administration, classroom and bathroom, connected by a 2-meter corridor that integrates the module with the central courtyard of the project.
We elaborate solutions to enable the construction in stages of the project, thinking modularly and a constructive narrative that allows the construction of the project without specialized labor. We have the presence of compacted clay blocks, which make up the “cobogós” present throughout the project for cross ventilation, steel bars as trusses and local wood in the composition of the entire center. Given this, the materiality of our project comprises local, cheap and easy materials, allowing a line of community construction.
